Autumn Members Lunch with Dr Martin Scurr

LCA’s Autumn RSM Lunch enjoyed the provocative insights of Dr Martin Scurr and his unflinching views on the changing private practice landscape. Celebrated for his distinguished career in both NHS and private practice and his long-running Daily Mail medical advice column, Martin treated us to a very personal experience of private medicine, from both a doctor’s and patient’s viewpoint.

Being a GP of long and distinguished standing, Martin spoke knowledgeably about the importance of continuity of care, something we cherish as one of the key benefits of private medicine. His talk considered how the role of the Insurer has changed from an enabler of care to a controller of care, and whose interests are really being served. Colleagues around the table shared their own views, under the Chatham House Rule, making for excellent post-lunch discussion.

Another legendary LCA Friday Lunch, with many new members present. The end-result? New friendships made, and old ones rekindled (some from 1968!), over good food and wine, imbibing Martin’s humorous observations. We are already looking forward to the next one.
