BMA Private Practice Committee conference

Friday 5th April 2019

The BMA’s Private Practice Committee is organising a one-day conference on Friday 5 April 2019 for doctors engaged in Private Practice Work. This conference will explore the ins and outs of private practice from taxation in private practice to Private Medical Insurance. The conference is targeted at all doctors who are engaged wholly or partly in private practice, as well as those looking to establish a private practice. It will therefore be relevant to GPs, consultants, associate specialists and junior doctors. For new entrants to the Private Sector, the conference will offer a chance to meet colleagues who have already established and run successful practices. For doctors with existing practices, there will be opportunities to make contacts and share ideas.

Key speakers who have confirmed their participation include:

  • Professor Ursula Gallagher, CQC deputy chief inspector of primary medical services and integrated care, will give a presentation on registration with the Care Quality Commission
  • Mr. Keith Pollard, executive chairman at LaingBuisson International, will discuss the changing landscape of private practice
  • Dr. Neil Haughton, president of Independent Doctors Federation, will give a presentation on the interface between primary and secondary care
