The LCA is pleased to announce that Dr Shabbir Moochhala PhD FRCPE has been appointed the new Chairman of the Association, succeeding Ellis Downes who steps down this month after nearly three years at the helm.
A Nephrologist based in north and central London, Shabbir is familiar with the challenges of juggling a growing private practice with NHS duties, along with clinical research commitments and family life.
“I am very honoured to have been elected the new Chairman of the LCA, taking over from Ellis Downes – his superb leadership, sprinkled with eloquence and generosity – will be a hard act to follow!
“The LCA exists to represent the interests of its members, private consultants in London and across the UK. We are all very aware of the financial pressures from expenses and insurers, but there is also the increasingly complex compliance framework to navigate. The LCA has helped me with these and other private practice-related issues. Uniquely, the LCA functions as a small, friendly and inclusive club with an emphasis on networking, bringing together private practice consultants and other independent sector leaders to forge invaluable links. I have benefitted tremendously from these interactions, especially with senior colleagues and, as Chairman, I aim to enhance this offering so that many other colleagues benefit.”
Members and Corporate Sponsors will have an opportunity to meet the new Chairman at the LCA Spring Members Luncheon on Friday 25 April at the RSM.
