The London Consultants’ Association (LCA) will be hosting its second of two meetings concerning entrance into private practice on the 26th February at the Medical Society of London’s Lettsom House Conference Room. This second meeting will focus on current and future models of employment in the private sector with a panel of four speakers discussing the matter from varying perspectives.

Doors open at 5.45pm with the meeting commencing at 6.30pm.

This meeting is open to both LCA members [FREE] and non-members [£25].

Our guest speakers for the evening include:

  • Mr. Ian McDermott – a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising purely in knees. Ian McDermott was a Consultant in the NHS, but in 2007 he entered full-time private practice. Ian McDermott founded the London Sports Orthopaedics practice, which is now one of the UK’s most successful private orthopaedics practices based in the heart of The City of London.

 

  • Mr. Keith Hague – CEO of Worldwide Healthcare Associates. Keith Hague has over 40 years’ experience in Healthcare Management, across the UK’s public and private sectors, having operated at both senior executive and chief executive level. Keith Hague also has extensive overseas contracting experience and was previously the Chief Operating Officer of the Cleveland Clinic.

 

  • Mr. Hamish Millar – Director of King Outlaw Consultancy Ltd. which has been operating for over 13 years specialising in management consultancy as well as financial management. Hamish Millar was also the Managing Director of 108 Medical Chambers from 2007-2017 where he was instrumental in the development of their picture archive and communication system (PACS), which saved £55k and was featured in the Independent Practitioner Today’s article “Picturing a way to make big savings.” Hamish Millar is also one of the Directors of the ‘Independent Practitioner Today’.

 

  • Dr. Brian O’Connor – a leading specialist in the field of Respiratory Medicine and Allergy, and the Lead Consultant for the London Chest Clinic. Prior to entering full-time private practice in 2008, Brian O’Connor established a leading edge clinical research facility to investigate new treatment strategies of Airway Diseases at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He was a senior lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial and continues to publish and present  hundreds of papers in Peer Review Journals and international scientific meetings on his research into Airway Diseases.
